Octopus holding Spanish 8 Reale

$2,995.00
The original silver coins, from which Dave Stein, cast these handsome replicas, came from a spanish galleon ship, sunk in a storm off the Florida coast in 1715. They were recovered by Kip Wagner in 1962. The Spanish cop (more famously known as the >Pieces of Eight< reales) were amoung the first coins struck in America. This was done by crudely being hammered into bars or sheets, cut down and balanced-weighted by Indian slaves to the correct weight, and then hand-struck. We offer various pieces of the 1 reale coin, which is a imprint of a cross symbol. The 4 reale coin, is of and the 8 reale coin.
